Task 2: Boat Quay and Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay/Boat Quay: Old Clarke Quay/ Boat Quay: Presently, Clarke Quay is a tourist attraction while the old Clarke Quay was the centre of trade, commerce and finance. There was water pollution due to the heavy traffic before, but now it has been cleaned up. Both have boats, but with different uses. The present Clarke Quay's boat, known as bumboat, is for river cruises and river taxies but the old Clarke Quay's boat, known as barge lighters, was used to transport cargo between Boat Quay and the warehouses at Clarke Quay. |
